Course Content
This course is specifically designed to provide engineers a rational basis for understanding and selecting corrosion protection solutions for steel structures. Both paint systems and galvanizing solutions are examined in detail.
Corrosion protection is fundamental to the robustness and durability of steel structures. Engineers need to understand not only the types of corrosion protection systems available and their performance characteristics but also proactively engage in crafting design and detailing solutions that maximise short term system application and long term performance. In fact, it is most important that engineers take a life-cycle view when specifying a corrosion protection solution, as corrosion protection is intended to address a problem that becomes significant in the longer term.
