Course Content
An optimal solution for your steel structure does not stop with a good design. The corrosion protection and fire performance of the structure is paramount and informed decisions on both these aspects are critical to demonstrating to your client a fit-for-purpose structure with lifecycle costs considered. This course provides engineers, specifiers, architects and product suppliers with pragmatic knowledge on performance coatings for steelwork for both corrosion protection and fire protection.
The course is based on presentations from AkzoNobel and includes some guidance on product selection.
Course Outline
- Introduction
- Corrosion protection requirements defined in AS/NZS 5131 ‘Structural steelwork – Fabrication and Erection’
- Conventional fire resistance design
- Performance-based fire design approach based on the NCC
- Fire engineered design
- Case studies and cost benefits
